Nellie R Klemme

Nellie R Klemme was born on March 10, 1871 in Howard, Iowa and was the only child of William Henry Klemme and Mary Augusta Bolles. She married James Donaldson Parker on August 23, 1892 in Ridgeway, Iowa.

Nellie graduated from Upper Iowa University in 1890 and then attended a private music school in Boston (1890-1891) where she met Eleanor Hodgman Porter, a writer of Polyanna series of books. She taught music at St. Charles College in Missouri from 1891-1892.

Nellie died on October 31, 1961 in Baltimore, Maryland at the age of 90 and was buried at Grandview Cemetery in Fayette, Iowa.

Nellie and James Donaldson Parker had three children in ten years:

• Dorothy Lakin Paker, 1896-1966
• Eleanor Bolles Parker, 1904-1988
