Thomas Joshua Buchanan

Thomas Joshua Buchanan was born on June 12, 1848 in Atlanta, Georgia. At that time his father Henry Franklin Buchanan was 24 and his mother Frances Abbott was 29. He married Josephine Bowie on December 25, 1870. Josephine Bowie died on April 30, 1872 at the age of 23. He then married Nellie A. Ward on May 6, 1874.

Thomas Joshua Buchanan enlisted from Warren Co., Georgia as a private in Co. I, 1st Regiment Georgia Militia on July 22, 1864. Paroled at Atlanta, Georgia. in May, 1865. Letter from Georgia Veteran’s Service Office in Atlanta dated December 6, 1934.

Thomas Joshua Buchanan died on May 7, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia at the age of 80, and was buried there.
