Charles Coleman Parker

Charles Coleman Parker was born on September 12, 1823 in Clermont, Ohio. His father Daniel Parker, was 42 at the time and his mother Priscilla Mulloy was 30. He married Sarah Maria Lakin in Ohio on October 4, 1853.

Charles graduated from Starling Medical College in Columbus, Ohio in 1850. He visited Fayette, Iowa in 1855 and lectured at Upper Iowa University He later became a trustee of the University. In the spring of 1860, he participated in the Pike’s Peak gold rush. He came back to Fayette in the Fall and was a surgeon with the 12th Iowa infantry regiment at Fort Donelson and Shiloh.

He died on January 12, 1906, in Fayette, Iowa at 82 and was buried in the Fayette Grandview Cemetery.
